Nikon Z7 

The camera that no one expects Nikon to launch so fast has arrived, and arrived with the Z6 that we talked about above. The Nikon Z7 practically needs no comment, after all it is a Z6 on steroids, but with a different mission. 

Z7’s mission is to make life a little tougher for the Sony A7RIII, which is Sony’s megapixel monster.

However this front only stops in the specifications because the prices are very different. The Nikon Z7 is a great camera, but for the price it should deliver a little more than the 5-axis stabilization on the sensor and the 493 points of autofocus.

With an autofocus system that makes many other cameras jealous, the EOS R is what we can call 5D MKIV mirrorless. It has a 30.3 Mp sensor that produces great images.

It has great ability to customize menus, as there are several options that can be assigned to different function buttons. It only sins on one or two points. 4K video recording is cropped, does not use the sensor completely. And it has no image stabilization in the body.

Sony Alpha A7 III

Sony Alpha A7III was certainly one of the most celebrated releases of the year in the world of lovers of mirrorless cameras. It was an almost perfect release, until the middle of the year at least. It has a great autofocus system that works perfectly for photos, but not so much for videos, let’s wait for a firmware update. It has 4K video recording at up to 30 fps and 1080p at up to 120 fps.

Panasonic Lumix G9

This could be the big camera of 2018 if it weren’t for some details. The Lumix G9 impresses anyone who likes wildlife photography, or sports photography, as it does this job very well.

The details that make it a fish out of water are the MFT sensor and the price. Even though it is not the most expensive camera on the list, not even by far, its price is a problem because the competition is very high in this price range when we do not include the factor “shooting speed”. I would very much like to be wrong, but it is a fact.

It has a good number of shots in continuous shooting and for the price a great autofocus system.

Despite not having so many changes compared to its predecessors, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III is a great option for those who want a camera that does everything right.

Fujifilm X-T20

I’m a fan of the retro design that Fuji decided to use in its products, even if this means compromising ergonomics a little. As for image quality there is not much to say about Fuji, as it is always something very well done and you can’t  expected nothing less from the brand. 

With a great number of images in continuous shooting, the ability to record videos in 4k, touch screen and tilt, the X-T20 is not just an option for those who like street photography.

Perhaps the best Fujifilm all around camera lives here, at least in the mirrorless APS-C segment. Putting together everything that worked on the X-T2 and bringing improvements requested by the public, the X-H1 is a full plate for those who want great equipment.

They are not only a great camera for those who want to take pictures, but also for those who want to record videos, as the brand’s first major move to overtake Panasonic’s GH-5.

Considered by many to be the best camera from Sony, the A9 comes to “cover” a hole that did not need to be covered.

Fujifilm GFX 50S

Being at the forefront of things isn’t for everyone, and it doesn’t always happen, and that’s exactly what Fujifilm has been trying to do with the launch of the GFX 50S which is a medium format sensor camera.

Together with the Hasselblad X1D, the GFX 50S started a new generation of mirrorless cameras that make the medium format system much more practical, due to its size. The GFX-50s is a camera specialized in portraits with high resolution, due to the size of the sensor and its resolution. 

Image quality is not a problem here, and for the more affluent it might be worth the investment.
