The best DSLR cameras of 2018

Apparently it has become a tradition, every year I post articles about the cameras that were launched, choosing the best purchase option, so this year will be no different as we will see the best DSLR cameras of 2018.

So let’s  work!

The best DSLR cameras of 2018

Nikon D850

epviAHqnwg

In any comparison list of DSLR cameras the Nikon D850 has to be present, it is very difficult to imagine a scenario where it does not appear, and it will possibly be at the top of the list.

It combines the best, photos and videos with great quality. A vast platform already in place, after all Nikon is here for a long time. It is rather a big camera and that compromises a certain investment, I only recommend this camera for those who are really committed to photography.

Once with it in your hands I can say that you will feel like it is no wonder that this camera is a great professionals’ choices is.

Sports, weddings, landscapes, portraits, none of this is a problem for the Nikon D850, it does it all with ease. Videos are also not a problem, which starts to be a novelty in the Nikon universe, and for more stationary things the D850 is a great option.

If you are interested in buying such a camera here’s a link for it,

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

NdZHBmJAloKVesaksx2V49rLZW8oHjxuP8yzifQvP8iM v90Fi9S78f5HTIdGkZ6z0GlAFsatO1Ah2mTim8XffafluhG7pHYk 86ELnoKp9fB0s37i1wwFdBZXz1hXHijGTfJtzt

Professional performance, pleasant size, fixed touch screen are some of the features you will find on the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

It is definitely one of Canon’s best cameras when it comes to balance. Because it has a great resolution without compromising speed. It has a more recent design than the 5DS and 5DR, which we will see, and one of its main features is the capture of 4K videos with Dual Pixel autofocus sensor.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 30.4MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF
  • Screen: 3.2 in touch screen, 1.620.000 points
  • Display: Pentaprism | Maximum shooting speed: 7fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K

For those who are already on the Canon platform and want to upgrade their equipment, the 5D MK IV is definitely a great option. It is certainly the dream of many photographers out there. If this is your consumer dream go for it! Don’t leave your dreams for later!

Nikon D750

As well built as the D850 but without destroying anyone’s bank account. The Nikon D750 has been on the road for some time and still is a great option within the best DSLR cameras of 2018, even though it hasn’t been launched this year. I believe that today is D750 is the best entry option for those who are looking for a Full frame cameras on the Nikon platform.

This place was from the old D610, great camera by the way, but a little older and limited than the D750. It can also be a great backup camera for anyone with a D850, as it can do almost anything your dearest sister does, not at the same speed!

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 24.3MP
  • Lens mount: Nikon FX
  • Screen: 3.2in inclined screen, 1,229,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum burst speed: 6.5fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: September / 2014

If you are about to join the Full Frame wave or if you want a second camera which is able to take the shot, the D750 is perhaps the best option if you want to use Nikon.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

d80eNNraCp6UmQlMiBkU0Xv6Hqf6lduh z0GVOCZnemYBJiSaEiTmvRdcWspUV4RHvmz fikU4q2bb5LsGnSfbQanDpeWHIBiNFjZnpK o2IgWJO4CJFAEppjHpPleJsDKRWGDXK

This one was one of Canon’s most anticipated cameras, after all the 6D was a huge success. The newer version has some updates as in the resolution in MP that now has risen to 26.2 against the 20.2MP of the previous version. The autofocus system has also undergone major changes such as the increase from 11 autofocus points to 45 points.

And the best news here is the presence of the Dual Pixel autofocus sensor, famous for its focus acquisition speed. The rate of continuous shooting is not very high, but good enough for most occasions. Perhaps where this young man owes himself, since it is relatively recent, is the lack of a great recourse, it does not record 4K.

However, other features like NFC and Bluetooth are present. I believe that the fact of having an articulated screen, a great autofocus, being a Full frame camera and having all the Canon background behind the colors in videos make this camera a great choice for those who are going to do Vlogs.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 26.2 MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF
  • Screen: 3.2in vari-angle touchscreen, 1,040,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum burst speed: 6.5fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: July / 2017

If you want to start a new career and become a vlogger click here and get a canon 6d MK II that you will be well served.

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II

OzWBxlJDBte

If for some reason today I had to migrate to Canon I would probably find a way to buy a 1DX MKII.

Heavy duty not only on the outside but also on the inside the 1DX MKII is what I call a hammer for every job. It is a camera intended for the professional audience, due to its functions and price. Perhaps the only annoyance with regard to Canon 1DX MK II is its size, it is a DSLR Full frame camera with built-in grip, it is not for any hand.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 20.2 MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF
  • Screen: 3.2 in touch screen, 1.620.000 points
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 14 / 16fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K
  • Released: February / 2016

Canon 1DX MK II is a war tank for sure, whatever type of weather you put this camera on it will work. It sacrifices resolution in favor of its speed, it is only 20.2MP but there are up to 16 shots in a row, great for extreme sports, wildlife, or anything you want. The video recording in 4K is very good, but in this regard the icing on the cake is due to 120PS, frames per second, when recording in 1080p.

Whoever wants a girl like this will have to put your hand on your pocket, see the price here.

Nikon D7500

HfqWLAe6gctBW59uNH0zEc

Don’t have the money to buy a D500? Okay buy a D7500, known as baby D500.

The Nikon D7500 brings together almost all of the D500’s strengths, replacing some key points along the way. It does not have the same autofocus sensor as the D500 and does not have a magnesium alloy body.

Instead, we have an older, but still functional, autofocus system and a carbon fiber composite body. The body is smaller and lighter than that of the D500 which will please many people wanting a DSLR camera.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: APS-C
  • Megapixels: 20.9MP
  • Lens mount: Nikon DX
  • Screen: 3.2 inch touch screen, 922,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 8fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K It has the best bits of the D500
  • Released: April / 2017

If you are looking for a serious camera but without compromising a lot of your money and don’t mind giving it up a full frame sensor, Nikon’s choices are D7500 or D500.

Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R

yHqm7Wzk7mKfezNSndCg0b KjgMa6jr4ZOM5WRKobYqxNr0tqavDIjD47Su1O Wj2LuUF75BlWCx9V18uOaAGE ChueoUET4Nde3uj8pMlqpXZN 7gPcVX dRUbhe0n23XZSw4Hy

If you want details and resolution in your photos, so you need more megapixels.

Then the Canon EOS 5DS comes in with its 50.6MP, almost absurd, and it is Canon’s best camera in this regard. With this high megapixel count it becomes a desired object for fanatics in detail in their photos, and the conversation stops here. It does not perform very well on videos, it is acceptable, its strict dynamic range and the large amount of noise at higher ISO settings make it more targeted photography than videos.

  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 50.6MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF
  • Screen: 3.2in, 1,040,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 5 fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: February / 2015

Based on the highly popular EOS 5D Mark III, but now replaced, the Canon EOS 5DS is a good choice for those who want to take great pictures and don’t worry about disk space.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II

3c1khWv5TrlVPshvx4Ld3qaSrMEG A Zdl S iN8UreTO KLKuDFG1oZN nwH3jyxJe65 b eagIStMgC MlivVnyGvKyKB9IeHu40nlmN8ujtQywVTQ47ITDFsbr9zoQm7W69OT

Similar to the EOS 5D series in robust magnesium alloy design and construction, the Canon EOS 7D Mark II is a high-quality APS-C DSLR. It is by no means the most top camera on the market, in fact it is already a little behind its time. However, with its 10 shots per second and with a very reliable autofocus system, it still enters this match here.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: APS-C
  • Megapixels: 20.2 MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF-S
  • Screen: 3 in 1, 1,040,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 10 fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: September / 2014

With a robust construction, good handling and professional image quality, the 7D MKII also has WIFI connection and touchscreen. The Canon 7D MKII, although not the best crop apple, is still a great option.

Nikon D500

Ykkr9As4xNW7CXBCyPx6BTi V1tzf64JwmOiQbmz6Uz1 bZVsfTKMVfeNz4p1S9Okdb JZYLO 2SxAOyjwZP5WQyOcrUf jg5D2Yw5s5x7OWldCNaZwgeGEUYHF

Definitely one of the best cameras on Nikon side and also one of the best APS-c camera options on the market and probably the top 2 rank on the best DSLR cameras of 2018 . The D500 is an extremely reliable and functional camera, solid construction, great shot rate per second and a buffer to envy.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: APS-C
  • Megapixels: 20.9MP
  • Lens mount: Nikon DX
  • Screen: 3.2in tilting touchscreen, 2,359,000 points
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 10 fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K
  • Released: January / 2016

It directly rivals the Canon 7D MKII and if it weren’t for the size of the sensor it would also rival the Nikon D5. If the subject is sport and wildlife it is worth taking a good look at the D500. The cost-benefit of this beauty is to envy any camera manufacturer.

Canon EOS 80D

02iJlblJ3YtmCqq3OnV4z0n5fKjnFby58yaa1lk1vmvXdi7Xj86T

Polyvalence is perhaps a good term to define the 80D. Relatively compact and light, with screen articulates the 80D it does everything that it proposes very well. While the 7D MKII is one of the sprinters in the class, the 80D is in the handyman class. It has a good number of megapixels, it has good shooting speed and it has a great autofocus system, the Dual Pixel AF.

Perhaps the sadness here is the lack of 4K videos, other than that it does very well what it proposes to do.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: APS-C
  • Megapixels: 24.2 MP
  • Lens mount: Canon EF-S
  • Screen: 3 inch touch screen, 1,040,000 dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 7fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: February / 2016

Fast, light, articulated screen, without bluetooth, but with NFC and WIFI, great image quality. For the price, what more do you want?

Nikon D5

7n gOCei86QbWYwxJDVoNscf2CGiYHhO7eBj4jby55cQT1o gIZQj MhvbL NmkToOVO6nAFaMDQAcpXpffvxNpBWYdSzaYe gr 6

Top of the line, the Nikon D5 cannot be characterized in any other way. It is an impressive camera. It is a fast camera aimed at whoever needs speed, it makes up to 14 frames per second, and has a very reliable focusing system.

Just like the 1DX MKII we talked about before, the Nikon D5 comes with a built-in vertical grip, so it’s easy to take pictures in both portrait and landscape orientation. Two things just to talk about the negative side of this camera, price and few megapixels.

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 20.8MP
  • Lens mount: Nikon FX
  • Screen: 3.2 in touch screen, 2,359,000 points
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 12/14 fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K
  • Released: January / 2016

The Nikon D850 is definitely one one the best DSLR cameras of 2018

Pentax K-1 Mark II

532YXN nSGTZuej2yelxRctgYYjce8

Not only from Nikon and Canon will man live. That’s what Pentax meant when it launched the K-1 MKII.

This camera is a good example of what DSLR cameras could be if Nikon and Canon decide to invest in innovations. It has technologies that are present today only in mirrorless cameras. The best innovation here is image stabilization using sensor movement. The K-1 MK II sensor has 5-axis stabilization which opens several doors in the world of DSLR

  • Type: DSLR
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 36MP
  • Lens mount: Pentax K
  • Screen: 3 on three tilt paths, 1,037k dots
  • Viewfinder: Pentaprism
  • Maximum shooting speed: 4.4 / 6.4fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 1080p (Full HD)
  • Released: February / 2018

Robust construction, 5-axis image stabilization and a great amount of megapixels, that’s basically what I can talk about the K-1 MKII

Moreover, it is a mediocre camera and does not place itself at the level of the concorrence, unfortunately, since the autofocus and number of shots does not even come close to the most current cameras.

Sony Alpha A99 Mark II

WdwjinRZoqcoCXBbx8R ztovw bFNs3lkqoZkiVwCV5wG1PZ1GAfng2CZFanNZbwZSxy4PZT7UTHxMH6f0TbhH0QCKvrC uK2K3O0zhHagfEtkR9W0hES3IaBji LIfsYvJ3cg8k

When is an SLR not an SLR? Simple, when it is an SLT.

Jokes aside, the Sony Alpha A99 Mark II is still an SLR, but it doesn’t have a moving mirror. The fixed mirror of this camera is translucent making it possible to reach the image sensor and also the autofocus sensor without it moving, hence the SLT, or single lens translucent.

  • Type: SLT
  • Sensor: Full frame
  • Megapixels: 42.4MP
  • Lens mount: Sony A
  • Screen: 3 at an angle, 1,228,800 points
  • Display: OLED
  • Maximum shooting speed: 8 / 12fps
  • Maximum video resolution: 4K
  • 5-axis image stabilization
  • Released: September / 2016

The Sony Alpha A99 Mark II is a respectable camera when it comes to its settings. It has a number of megapixels to be envied, a good number of shots, makes videos in 4k and has a sensor with 5-axis stabilization.

In short, it has everything so that its name is stuck in the minds of the most equipment fanatics. It’s just not up to mirrorless cameras. The point where she disappoints a little is in relation to autofocus for subjects in motion, other than this within normality.

Conclusion

Even in a weak year of news on the DSLR cameras front, we still have great options for buying cameras of this type and to choosing the best DSLR cameras of 2018. Even though the increasingly inflated market with mirrorless cameras practically forces you to migrate your system, it’s up to you to decide when and if it’s time to change.

There’s a lot more at stake in changing your platform than you think, it’s not just a lens. Whether as a first camera or equipment upgrade that already uses the cameras listed here, they still make a nice broth.

So what have you been using? I share here in the comments.
